About Me

Who I Am

Hello, my name is Jay!

I am a hobby artist by trade and have been artistically inclined since I was old enough to hold a pencil. I began taking art practice more seriously as a sophomore in high school and have been steadily building my skills since then, slowly tacking on other art and craft-related hobbies along the way.

I've found that I adore tinkering with items available on hand, and the more unlikely the pairing result, the better!

Even more, I love learning new skills to challenge myself and create with. A single medium shouldn't limit how creativity can be applied to it!

What I Do

Most of my skills are self-taught, though I did take an art class or two in high school. The crafts I'm interested in vary greatly in how much direct experience I have with them, but I'm always looking to continue learning and developing these skills.

Among my creative interests -ranked most to least common- are:

  • pen/pencil and paper sketching
  • digital drawing and painting
  • jewelry beading
  • acrylic painting
  • decoupage (using glue to attach patterned paper to an object as decoration)
  • machine sewing
  • hand sewing
  • water color
  • polymer clay sculpting
  • upcycling projects
  • crochet
  • darning/patching
  • embroidery
  • wood carving
  • candle making

Skills I'm currently interested in picking up include knitting, leather work, and pottery.
